Too much SPAM

I have too much SPAM!
No, not this kind. I might actually enjoy that.
I have been deleting so much SPAM from my comments lately.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem recently?
I feel like turning back on Word Verification,
but really don't want to do that as of yet.
Please tell me how you feel about the sudden increase in SPAM and how you feel about Word Verification? I really would like to know.
Thank you for all your comments. I want you to know that I appreciate every single one of your comments!

Looking forward to Spring and the New Life that it brings.

Blessings,
Little Susie Home Maker

  1. I have been getting more as well...but since they are just filed in the Spam comments, I can just delete them. It's annoying to get the emails...but I would rather not use the word verification...the numbers are too blurry and I miss the word half the time. Yikes!

  2. My spam comments have increased tremendously over the past month or so. It is so annoying! I just put up with it and delete them every couple days. I don't want to moderate or do word verification, so I'll just keep deleting them unless they get even worse. Then it will be time for drastic measures!

  3. I agree with you, the amount of spam comments I've been receiving has really increased! I used to use word verification but then I was receiving emails from readers that wanted to comment but they said that it was too difficult to read the word verification.

  4. I have gotten so many anonymous comments as well (from really old posts) Is there are way just to not allow anonymous comments? Either way...I'd still visit and comment that's for sure!

  5. Word verification is kinda hard. Some blogs have them and It always takes 3 times for me... I agree spam comments are annoying and I wonder who in the world has time to post that anyway?

  6. It is not just you! The trolls are out in force. I, as well as several other bloggers I follow, are all complaining about the spam. I changed my settings to comment moderation, at least I can stop it before it is posted...

  7. I have lots of trouble deciphering those crazy letters & blurry numbers in the word verification, but will try 2 or 3 times to leave a comment before I give up, LOL! I've had some spam, not too much, but I have considered trying the comment moderation.

  8. Are you getting your comments through email? Because I do not use the email and knock on wood but I do not get any spam. Oh boy how frustrating is that?

  9. Sorry to hear about the increase in SPAM you've been experiencing. My blog has not had much of an issue with that. Word verification is frustrating -- very rarely do I get it right the first try. I do give it a couple of tries so I can leave my comment.

  10. Susie,I hope you got my reply to the email you sent me. I have been receiving all your comments. Yes I am very grateful for featuring me in your last post and don't mind anyone using my pics.
I said in the email that I was also getting lots of spam comments. It was recommended I go to settings and click on registered users only. It did stop the spams, but after you told me my blog said no reply on the comment, I clicked back to anyone can comment. Just in case that was the problem. I hope that doesn't sound complicated. I will wait and see if the spams stay away. Hope my blog doesn't say no reply :)

  11. I don't use word verification, but I do moderate comments. I think I also have my settings to not allow for anonymous comments. I haven't had trouble with spam, but my blog isn't that big, either.

  12. Hi, I have the word verification off too. Someone asked for it. I haven't got an increase in SPAM yet and I hope it stays that way ; )
    Have a wonderful day.

  13. That is such a nuisance, I have my settings arranged so anonymous comments can't be left.

Hope you manage to sort something out, hoping you are well,

    Hugs, Estelle xx

  15. I get some spam, probably a couple a day. I manage it pretty simply though, by having my blog set up as "comment will be approved by blog owner." Doing this allows me to take about 30 seconds a day to identify spam while not burdening my legitimate commenters with word verification (I hate to do that when commenting on blogs!). Hope this helps:)

  16. I do not get spam. None.
I read my blog in the blog (not in e-mail), I won't accept anonymous comments (where most spam comes from), and I turn on comment moderation for anything over a day old.

Please do NOT turn that horrible word verification back on. Its awful!! It's so hard to read, it takes 3, 4 attempts to send a comment. Just change your comment settings and see if that helps. I have step by step help for that under my header... where it says "Blog help".

  17. Hi Susie I was having the same problem now suddenly it has stopped. I had even stopped commenting without approval after three days, but still I had it. I think the spammers got tired of trying at my site when they realized they could not leave their crap on my blog. They are so dumb, they find the old post and comment there. I guess they get away with it a lot. I am looking forward to spring as well we already have it here kind of. The mornings are in the 40's but by the end of the day it's 80. Today will be in the 70's that is much better. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs

  18. I love it that you quote 1 Thessalonians 4:11 & 12!! It is my favorite homemaking verse, and keeps me from joining "the madding crowd". I look forward to reading through your blog as it is my first visit! Aloha with hugs, Ann

  19. I discovered your blog through Google+ and I'm so excited - can't wait to start reading some of your posts! Yes I started having lots of spam within the past year. I finally chose to go with "comment moderation" which is a little extra work but not as bad as having some of those comments show up in my blog. Word verification is, to me, difficult, it's so hard to read some of the letters. But whatever you choose, it won't stop me from coming back. I'm a Christian, too, and look forward to blogging with you.

    Hugs ~ Mary

  20. I use the gmail address on my blog and don't get SPAM, it does end up in the SPAM section of BLOGGER which I just delete. I hate word verification, it slows down my ability to leave a note for bloggers. I'd prefer that folks just delte the SPAM they get instead making readers 'verify' they are not a robot!

  21. How are you, girl? Ms. Wilma and I miss you! I haven't gotten much spam, hope I don't! But I don't know how to stop it.

  22. Susie,

I've been getting all kinds of spam. I had no choice but to place moderation back on so I can review every post.

  23. Hi Susie, I was starting to get Spam and decided to click on 'Registered User' on the Who can comment? section. I am happy to say that I have not received any spam since. Thank goodness! I also noticed on your comment at The Charm of Home that you were logging into bloglovin through your Facebook page. You can just use your email address and password and this will allow you to access your blogs too. I prefer this way rather than through Facebook as they collect so much information that you have no control of. It's all change isn't it?! Take care. Chel x

  24. I'm a little late with a comment but wanted to say that I, too, have had only 1 or 2 spam comments in the last few months because I put my setting on Registered Users. Before this, I was getting lots of spam. I also clicked on comment moderation sometimes--on older posts. That helped tremendously, too.
